Senior Pastor

Rev. Dr. Samuel Broomfield Reeves, Jr. is the Senior Pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia, Liberia, one of the oldest congregations in Africa, founded in 1821. A visionary leader, theologian, and community advocate, Dr. Reeves has dedicated his life to ministry, education, and social transformation.

 

He was ordained into the Gospel Ministry on May 27, 1990, and has served in numerous leadership roles, including Director of Christian Education, Associate Pastor, and Interim Pastor. He previously served as Pastor of Madison Square Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a multi-ethnic, multi-site congregation of over 1,800 members.

In 2005, Dr. Reeves returned to Liberia to lead Providence Baptist Church, where he has since transformed the church into a hub for spiritual growth, social outreach, and national impact. His ministry focuses on serving the poor, empowering communities, and advancing Christian education.

Dr. Reeves holds a Bachelor of Theology from Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary, and both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is also an Adjunct Professor, a former National Vice President of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention, and currently serves as President of the Liberia Baptist Convention.

A passionate advocate for community development, he is the Founder of Aachen Home Care Liberia, Inc. He has led major initiatives, including the DeVos Village project, which features a medical center, schools, and housing units. He is also actively developing a Homeless Second-Chances Center to support vulnerable populations.

Dr. Reeves is the author of two books on leadership and church partnerships and continues to write and speak on faith, leadership, and global mission.

He is married to Mrs. Alice Weimaa Cooper Reeves, and they are blessed with one son. He enjoys spending time with his family and remains deeply committed to serving both his congregation and the nation of Liberia.
